About

Somers Education Foundation (SEF)

The Somers Education Foundation (SEF), established in 1994, is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of parents, school representatives and community members. SEF supports Somers schools by raising funds for specific student and teacher-initiated projects that enrich the educational experience and are not funded by the district’s budget. As of March 2025, SEF awarded over 485 grants and scholarships worth over $1.9 MILLION!  Our grants range from “SmartBoards” and computer/audio-visual equipment, to uniforms for the fife and drum corps, to funding diversity programs, to supporting our schools Power Libraries and most recently, the new collaboration style whiteboard furniture for the Intermediate School.

Our Mission

The Somers Education Foundation (SEF) promotes community awareness and support for Somers schools by raising money for programs not funded by the school budget or other school groups. SEF’s objective is to support specific teacher and/or student initiatives and special projects which enrich the educational experience.
