With over $1.9 million raised since 1994
The Somers Education Foundation (SEF), established in 1994, is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of parents, school representatives and community members. SEF supports Somers schools by raising funds for specific student and teacher-initiated projects that enrich the educational experience and are not funded by the district’s budget.
As of December 2024, SEF has awarded $1.9 Million across 450 grants and scholarships to the SCSD.
For a list of our latest grants awarded, please see the Grants page.
We are thankful for all that our supporters do for us on an ongoing basis to support our mission. With your generous support, we will continue to award grants and scholarships to teachers and students in the Somers Central School District (SCSD) to make a meaningful difference in the education experience of our students.

What a wonderful night at the Somers Democratic Club Dinner, where the Somers Education Foundation received the Community Appreciation Award in recognition of our grantmaking and scholarship awarding abilities for the children of Somers. We have now awarded $1.8 million since our 1994 founding. I was so honored to represent SEF along with Lindsay Portnoyand Jeff Feldman. Friday, June 16 has been designated SEF Day in Somers and Sunday, June 18 has been designated SEF/Glenn Hintze Day (OMG! :)) in Westchester County. Thank you so much Somers Democratic Club (Lorne Robbins, Christine Robbins), Somers Supervisor Rick Morrissey and Westchester Legislative Chair Mike Kaplowitz!! We are humbled!! Congrats also to my friend Shari R. Gordon for receiving the Democrat of the Year award!
